Jan Mankes Jigsaw

This 1000 piece jigsaw has a high resolution image of 'Bomenrij' ('Row of trees') by Jan Mankes 1915 printed on it.

This painting depicts tall, fantasy oaks with decorative serpentine crowns. Low winter light sweeps over this sandy road between Heerenveen and De Knipe, with Jan and Annie, the painter and his wife, walking there. At the bottom right a shadow works on the land. It is thought the road may be a symbolism for the path of life.
