"Sarsfield Bridge" - Oil on Canvas Board - Orla Hilton ALL PROCEEDS GOING TO THE IRISH HEART FOUNDATION
This painting, “Sarsfield Bridge”, is based on childhood walks across the three bridges with her father, watching the rowing boats coming from both Shannon and St Michael’s rowing clubs and feeding the swans.
Orla is from Limerick and studied art in MICEd, coming first in her final year art option project. She continued to complete an MA researching the effect that music and art have on emotional development. Orla paints mainly in oils and is influenced by the impressionists. She is fascinated by capturing the unique light that exists in the remote spaced in the West of Ireland. Her subjects are generally landscape and the built environment, however she is also very interested in developing paintings that relate to abstract expressionism. Orla is very influenced by Irish artists Tom Ryan, Roderic O’Connor and Paul Henry.
